In Skiathos, a suite within a complex of rooms becomes a space of relaxation and sensory richness, where the architecture, materials, and light subtly convey the spirit of the island. The design concept is rooted in the idea of an inclusive and relaxed living environment, shaped by the spatial, material and atmospheric qualities of the island.

References to the local context informed the overall approach. Ceramic textures, island minimalism and subtle color accents are combined with a sense of Mediterranean warmth, forming a calm and balanced interior. The color palette is composed of beige tones, sea-inspired blue-grey hues and terracotta, creating a soft contrast that enhances the connection between interior space and landscape.

Materiality plays a central role in the project. Marble, wood and ceramic surfaces are layered with textiles featuring a pronounced tactile quality, subtly evoking the texture of woven natural fibers. Rather than literal references, the materials are used to suggest depth, relief and sensory richness, contributing to a quiet yet expressive spatial experience.

The layout of the suite is organized around a central sleeping area, defined by the bed, a daytime bed positioned in front of it, and a low chest of drawers that completes the composition. Along the circulation axis, a compact open kitchen is integrated into the space, followed by a wardrobe volume that leads to the open-plan bathroom area. The shower and washbasin are treated as part of a continuous spatial sequence, reinforcing a sense of openness and fluidity.

Through a careful balance of simplicity, material contrast and natural light, the suite becomes an atmospheric retreat that reflects a contemporary approach to island living. The space privileges comfort and clarity, while its restrained palette and tactile qualities reinforce a quiet yet meaningful connection to place.
