In the heart of Kolonaki, an interwar apartment unfolds into a new workspace, where history and contemporary life coexist. The design preserves the original architecture while reimagining its spaces to meet the needs of a modern consulting office. Designed by Dimitris Fotiadis, the building carries a strong architectural and cultural identity, one that the design aimed to preserve and subtly reinterpret within the interior.
Architectural elements were carefully maintained, allowing the history of the space to remain legible. Parisian references, rooted in the neoclassical context of Kolonaki and its historic urban residences, emerge through carefully selected furniture and refined architectural detailing.
A key design brief was the creation of an atmospheric environment throughout the offices, as well as the expression of the client’s deep appreciation for art. Alongside artworks from the client’s personal collection, bespoke design elements were integrated into the interior architecture. Decorative wallpapers, most notably in the meeting room, and custom-made furniture pieces enrich the space with crafted detail and artistic presence.
Bold colors interact with light, materials and textures such as glass, marble and wood, shaping spaces with varying intensity and depth. The existing layout and masonry structure were maintained, with the functions of the spaces adjusted to support the new requirements. This approach reinforces a sense of continuity and authenticity.
As a final gesture, the project embraces the passage of time, allowing past and present to coexist within the interior. The result is a workspace that feels layered, expressive and lived-in, balancing elegance with functionality, and honoring the building’s history through a contemporary lens.
